SO RARE.

This car has a ‘92-only interior and exterior color. A shame that it has the 2.2 four-cylinder instead of the optional 3.1 V6, but oh well.

Trivia: I was trying to find an L-body (Corsica/Beretta) before I found Jolene the Sunbird.

those used to be like belly buttons, and they roamed the streets long after the Berettas were recycled into spoons.

Kinja'd!!!

Canada got a pontiac corsica as well.

Yes! The Tempest. Used to be  seen occasionally around Detroit.

Meanwhile, around the corner from my house...

Kinja'd!!!

It hasn’t moved in ages, and the left side view mirror is missing. I imagine the mirror is the least of its problems.

M y grandfather on my mother’s side had a grey one of those with the v6, until he crashed it, then he stopped driving...  That GM v6 was really quite growley...

Trivia quiz: Name a car that was introduced in the US solely for fleet (ie rental) use.

I’ll also allow the Chevrolet Captiva as an answer.

Rarity does not equal value. These should remain hidden.

A ‘94  Z26. The only year of the Z26 and the open front grille.

Correct! The C orsica/Beretta were both introduced in ‘87 to rental fleets so they could be “beta tested” before mass retail sales started  in ‘88 .

I spent a summer working at a Chevy dealership in 1988 or 1989. Don’t remember exactly. I worked for the leasing division, so my main job was picking up leased cars from customers (and leaving them a Chevy Spectrum to drive) , taking the cars in for service, cleaning them, then returning them. The leases weren’t Chevys though. It was Porches, BMWs, an a nniversary 300ZX , lots of really nice cars.   We also had a small collection of rentals (Novayotas and a single Celebrity) that I had to clean. Still got to drive the Berettas a few times, and they were.....uninspiring.

There’s a butt for every seat. Me, being an old GM FWD aficionado, has a want for this.

The Beretta too?  I always thought it was just the Corsica.

Yep. Beretta too. There are even a few ‘87-only details on the rental spec ones. I know of one that still exists. A member of the Malaise Motors group on Facebook has an ‘87 Corsica out in California.

I had 2 roomates with 2 B erettas 88 and 89 GT cars. P retty quick with a 5 speed, however those guy rode around in my 3 cyl sprint most of the time because the Berettas were usually di sassem bled in the driveway.

I grew up in a ‘91 Corsica LT with the 3.1 V6 and the Z52 Sport Package. Meaning it had the 16-inch wheels from the ‘88 - ‘90 Corsica LTZ, the FE3 suspension from the Beretta GT, and the full gauge package (tachometer included). It would haul ass for being an early-‘90s econobox. And it sounded nice, too. My mom bought it after my father passed away in mid-‘91. It was easier to cart two-year-old me around in the four-door Corsica. She previously had a beige two-door mid-‘80s Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais.

Lasted us 10 years and 170k miles and still ran great. My stepdad stupidly sold it in 2001 after my mom died. It was supposed to be kept for me.

I’d still like to find/own a nice Corsica in memory of my mom.

Honestly, this is a safe space for me. I can declare my love/obsession of all sorts of shitty cars and y’all accept me anyway.

I had a 91 z24 cavalier with the 3.1 Back in the late 90s. Great sounding car, but was thirsty.  I got rid of it before it was due to change the spark plugs.

Our Corsica developed an overheating problem later in its life and my mom never bothered to fix it. That, the A/C, and the TCC (torque converter clutch) are the only things I recall going bad.

Every j body I’ve been in that had the 3.1 or 2.8 all had the antifreeze smell from the heating. Mine had a failed AC but I never bothered to even try to fix it.

My best friend ’ s mom had a Beretta GTU while we were in high school and  he thought it was the coolest car on earth. She let him drive it a few times, and he raved about it like it was a Porsche.

The extra weight of the V6 takes away most of the performance of the V6.

Nice! I worked for GM in 1990 right out of college. Bought my first new car at a big discount thanks to the program. I really wanted a Beretta convertible, which never arrived of course. Because the Beretta was supposedly coming, there was no 1990 Z24 convertible, which would have been my second choice.

So I bought a Sunbird turbo convertible (hi Jolene!) . With a *factory* white vinyl interior. It’s the only one I’ve ever seen.

In another weird twist, my uncle has a red z24 convertible. 1989, I think. It has 1800 miles on it. That’s not a typo.     Plastic seat covers from the factory are still on it.

The GTZ is where it was at.

The Quad 4 HO pulled like a freight train and loved revs, they handled like they were on rails, unfortunately they also liked to lose oil pressure without warning....

Man I wish I could find the ad now. There was a Corsica LTZ that popped on a FB page with a manual.

It was absolutely gorgeous and IIRC not priced too bad.

We had one of these growing up, a blue LT with the 3.1. What a turd, I remember it fondly. I mostly learned to drive in that car and also learned to hoon since dad let me take it out into the field next to our house. It was pretty terrifying to drive near the end of it’s life, shocks were completely gone so it was super floaty , the brakes were wooden and had no feel, the high beam switch had to be pulled in a very specific down and back direction, otherwise you lost all lights, paint was peeling, interior falling apart, rust, etc. Dad traded it for an oxy/ace ty lene torch (which we never use) at around 180k . The next owner still managed to put quite a few miles on it. Not sure of it’s status now, it’s probably dead.

I know they’re mostly mediocre but I love the Beretta and would love to have one.
